How to find a Web developer or Web Designer

When looking for a Web developer or Web designer, many people just don’t know where to start. In this article we guide you through the process of finding potential web developers and web designers who you can then approach for quotes.

webdesignsmall.jpgTraditionally people would have turned to paper directories to find a Web developer but in our experience this is rarely the case. Web designers are listed in all the major paper directories but this is in no means a complete list.

An alternative of course is to turn to the search engines in your quest to find a suitable web developer. You should try to search for Web developers in your area by including a your location. For example instead of searching for “Web developer” or “Web designer”, try searching for “Web developer Wales” or “Web designer Welshpool”.

One of the things that might help you decide on whether a Web developer is good at more than just building websites, such as search engine optimisation, is to see if they come up on the first page for your search. Obviously, the broader the area of your search the less likely a Web developer is to come up in the results. For example, a search for “Web designer” on its own would bring up many more results for web designers rather than adding a location such as “Web designer Wales”, “Web designer South Wales” or “Web designer in Welshpool”. These results will actually bring up more results for Web developers that are more suitable to you due to their location.

Another method is to look for who the Web Developer was for Websites that you like. Most Web developers will include a link to their Website at the bottom of the page. Clearly if you like the website design that the web developer has produced, you may be a good match for that Website developer.

Failing that, talking to other businesses and organisations about which Website developer they used is a good way of finding new Web designers that you can approach for a quote.
